The COLSA Software Factory (CSF) recently announced that it has been reappraised by the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)® Institute for CMMI-DEV Maturity Level 3. The appraisal was performed by Breakpoint Consulting Group.

The CSF demonstrated that their agile processes advocate for the continuous involvement of the customers and continuous improvement of their processes. The CSF’s processes give project teams the flexibility of agile and discipline of a standard process simultaneously.

CMMI is a capability improvement framework that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. An appraisal at maturity level 3 indicates the organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, processes are well characterized and understood and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods.
