COLSA (West Coast Operations) currently supports the following Space and Missile Naval Warfare Systems Center programs:
Tactical Communication Solutions (TCS)–
COLSA’s West Coast Operations (WCO) division provides
a wide range of software engineering services to Space
and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Pacific, including
the support of design, development, testing, and fielding
of the Tactical Communication Solutions (TCS) suite
of Data Link Test Tools (DLTTs). The DLTTs facilitate
long-range data link communications, particularly Link-16
communications, over secure networks among test sites
not within line of sight (LOS) of each other in order
to exchange tactical data. As part of this effort, COLSA
WCO personnel perform software requirements analysis
and definition, software design and development, unit
and integration testing, product baselining, and configuration
management. COLSA personnel also provide field support
and training for the DLTTs. We play a key role in the
development of operational ground infrastructure systems,
including work performed for the Israeli Missile Defense
Agency (IMDA) and for the Taiwan Po Sheng project. In
addition, COLSA has contributed heavily to the program’s
compliance to CMMI Level 2, and is supporting current
activities to move the program to CMMI Level 3 compliance.
COLSA personnel assigned to the TCS
program also support testing of the Missile Defense
System Exerciser (MDSE) for the Missile Defense Agency
(MDA). This test support is provided through monitoring
and maintaining of secure Link-16 communications, recording
and analyzing test data, and reporting the test results
to cognizant test activities.
COLSA personnel are also tasked in
the engineering, development, and testing of cryptographic
devices for JTIDS, MIDS, and JTRS radios, along with
other secure data communications equipment.
A group of COLSA technicians are
assigned to fabricate, test, and ship mini-racks for
JTIDS, MIDS, and JTRS terminals. These mini-racks permit
the convenient transportation and operation of secure
radio equipment virtually anywhere in the world.
Interior Voice Communications Systems (IVCS) – COLSA WCO personnel install, maintain, and repair shipboard interior communications systems, including the Interior Voice Communications System (IVCS) used extensively on AEGIS-class cruisers. Our expertise includes the ability to install original equipment onboard ships according to shipboard requirements, analyze and act on SHIPALT instructions to integrate voice communications, and assess and repair damage to previously installed interior wired and wireless communications systems. IVCS personnel also perform installations of security systems, including the system protecting the headquarters of the US Navy’s Third Fleet..
