After coming to the ARC nine years ago, I’ve had the opportunity to work on other projects, but COLSA has done a really excellent job of setting up its management staff, and they really do a good job of taking care of their employees and making you want to work here. My main responsibilities are reviewing new project requirements and implementing the initial staging of project integration, hardware and software coming into the ARC before they go to the production/maintenance mode, and this is an ever-changing environment.
Within my group, I’m the lead engineer for the High Performance Computing Modernization Office distributed center located at the ARC, and I’m involved in researching all new HPC cutting-edge technologies and determining whether ARC projects can benefit from their integration. I write proposals for HPCMO hardware, which will in turn support ARC-supported projects in anything from analyzing the debris that results from the fallout of missiles to the new James Webb Space Telescope, which will replace the Hubble and is scheduled to launch in 2013. |
