Benefits
COLSA Corporation a “Family of Professionals” offers eligible
employees the opportunity to participate in the COLSA Choice Plan which
offers a variety of benefits that are considered to be among the best
in the industry.
The highlights below are intended to provide an overview of COLSA’s
benefit package and will not cover every detail. In the event of a conflict
between these highlights the policies, procedures, or plan documents will
take precedence.
Vacation
All regular, full-time and thirty-hour employees receive a certain number
of vacation days based on years of service. Start watching your vacation
hours accrue, beginning with your first paycheck!
Bereavement Leave
COLSA grants paid bereavement leave for a death in an employee’s
immediate family.
Holidays
COLSA provides eligible employees ten holidays each year.
Matching 401(k) Plan
COLSA has an outstanding matching 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan. Employees
are eligible to participate in COLSA’s matching 401(k) Plan on their
first day at work. COLSA will match a portion of your contribution dollar
for dollar. Employees may enroll or change contributions at any time,
to be effective with the following pay period.
Educational Assistance
COLSA, being a “Family of Professionals,” encourages employees
to continue their education to aid in advancing their careers at COLSA.
You may want to complete a degree or pursue additional courses to assist
you in your present position or your career objectives.
COLSA pays percentage of tuition and related fees (labs, facility, instructional)
for eligible employees directly to the institution the employee is attending.
Vision Discount Program
COLSA offers a discount vision program for eye exams, eyeglasses, and
contacts at participating vision centers in the Huntsville, Alabama area.
Savings Bonds
You may elect to purchase U.S. Savings Bonds through automatic payroll
deduction. You are eligible to sign up for U.S. Savings Bonds at the beginning
of any payroll period.
Payroll Direct Deposit
With COLSA’s automatic payroll direct deposit, your entire paycheck
is deposited directly into the bank or savings institution of your choice.
The funds will be automatically credited to whichever account(s) you specify,
provided the financial institution(s) is part of the Federal Transfer
Deposit (FTD) System.
EAP/ Expanded Psychiatric Services
Employee Assistance Program benefits are available to all employees and
their dependents. Benefits include one free initial assessment and up
to two free counseling sessions per year. The expanded mental and nervous
benefit plan is automatically offered to employees and covered dependents
who are enrolled and participating in COLSA Corporation's Medical Group
Plan.
COLSA Choice Flexible Benefits
At COLSA you will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of benefit
options to best meet your family’s needs. These benefit options
include medical, dental, long-term disability, short-term disability,
employee life insurance, dependent life insurance and accidental death
and dismemberment. In most cases, you pay your share of the cost of these
benefits with pre-tax dollars. One of the most exciting features of the
program is the opportunity to reduce taxes through the Flexible Spending
Accounts. Under the COLSA Choice Plan you will be given an allowance of
credits to pay for your benefit choices. If you wish to spend more than
your credit allowance additional deductions will be made from your paycheck
on a pre-tax basis. The following benefits are offer through COLSA Choice
Flexible Benefits Plan
Medical/Prescription
The medical insurance offered through COLSA is an excellent benefit,
which includes hospitalization, major medical, and preventive care provisions
from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. Employees have two options
through BCBS, 1) Personal Choice or 2) Preferred Care. Prescription drugs
are covered through the BCBS of Alabama medical plans. Further details
regarding the medical plan can be obtained by contacting the Human Resources
Department.
COLSA has a Tricare Supplement program designed to pay your cost shares
and the fiscal year outpatient deductible not paid by Tricare. The program
is available to employees who are retired from the military, entitled
to benefits under the government’s Tricare health insurance program
and listed in DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System)
Database.
Dental Insurance
The Dental Plan covers three types of services: diagnostic/preventive,
basic restorative, and major restorative. Dental insurance is available
through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama
Disability
Our short term and long term disability plans provide a source of income
if you become disabled while working at COLSA Corporation. The plans are
designed to relieve some of the worry about how you will support yourself
and your family should you become unable to work as a result of total
disability.
Life & Accidental Death
and Dismemberment Insurance
COLSA provides a basic amount of life insurance as well as Accidental
Death & Dismemberment insurance benefits at no cost to the employee.
Employees may choose additional supplemental life insurance and supplemental
Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage on themselves as well as
eligible dependents.
Flexible Spending Accounts
The “Flexible Spending Accounts” allow you to pay for certain
health care and employment related day care expenditures with pre-tax
dollars within IRS guidelines.
